Seesar's Arsenal of Sound Generating Gear
Seesar employs a wide variety of instruments to create sonic art, including "regular" instrumentation played as expected by the maker and using extended techniques, objects repurposed to shift the expected function of the item from a non-musical function to a sound-making one, and building new noise generating devices that cover sounds typically not made via other sources. Below is a list of gear, purchased, repurposed, and self-made, that finds their way onto Seesar recordings. (This is an ongoing documentation of these sound makers. A staple sound arsenal for Seesar's recordings and performances is primarily formed by repurposing items not originally intended to be a musical instrument and building new sound-making devices, such as haunted boxes and buzzophones.
Another regular sonic inclusion for Seesar music production and performance comes from employing extended playing techniques on traditional instruments (and very occasionally, playing traditional instruments as intended!)
Recently (post-Covid lockdown), Seesar is now also incorporating electronics, mostly analogue circuits, circuit-bent toys, DIY projects, and commercially available performance-based electronics (such as capacitance-based and light sensor controllers).
